Support Groups

Brain Injury Support Groups for People Living with Brain Injury, Family Members, and Caregivers

Social support is key for persons living with brain injury. It’s also important for family members and caregivers.

Get support from others who understand the challenges you experience and who have rehabilitation hope and experience to share.  Enjoy camaraderie, get tips and resources, and gain the inspiration to continue your rehabilitation journey.

In-person and online groups are available. All groups listed here are open to New Mexicans. A few are for caregivers, and there is a specialty group for those injured by drunk or distracted drivers.

Monthly Virtual Resource Group:  We invite you to bring your questions about life and brain injury rehabilitation needs to the group shown below, and resource people will seek to provide information to you.

Although it’s not intended to be an emotional “support group,” some people find it very supportive to attend, and you are surely welcome to attend whether you need specific resources or not!

One Friday Per Month:  Brain Injury Resource Group
Hosted by: Brain Injury Alliance of New Mexico
Margot Feldvebel, LCSW, facilitator.

We invite you if you are a person living with brain injury (PLWBI), a family member or caregiver of a PLWBI to attend to learn about resources.

If you are a professional or an employee of a health care system or any  State or community agency, you are welcome to attend to help attendees with brain injury and to help us learn what your agency can offer people living with brain injury.

The goal of this group is to help individuals, families, family members, or caregivers of people living with brain injury to learn about State and community resources. Do you need brain injury rehabilitation? Medical care? Long-term care? Cognitive rehabilitation? Housing? Bring these questions and more to the resource group to learn about your options.

To receive emailed invitations to this group, please enter your name and email address in the fields at the top of this page.  We send a reminder by email two days before each meeting and another on the day of the meeting. Every email includes the Zoom link and phone numbers.

Please note that dates are subject to change, and this page will be updated when possible if a date is changed.
