Time is almost out. Get counted today.
You have the power to change New Mexico’s future by being counted in the 2020 Census today. But your time to help shape that future is quickly running out.
When you complete your 2020 Census, you bring our tax dollars back to where they need to be — right here in New Mexico. In fact, for every person counted, New Mexico receives over $3,700 per year for the next 10 years. Every penny of that is money that our state is owed by the federal government, but we only get it if we’re counted.
And when you don’t get counted, you impact firefighters and first responders, your local elementary school and job training programs, roads and sidewalks, and access to health care – all for the next 10 years. Put simply, an undercount means less funding that our state needs and deserves.
Unfortunately, based on current participation rates, New Mexico is leaving billions of dollars on the table. Dollars that belong here but instead will be claimed by states with higher participation – states like Texas, Colorado and Arizona.
The good news is participation is easy, safe and convenient. The census is a simple 10 question form that takes just a few minutes to complete. And if you’re reading this message you already have to tools you need to participate – a phone or an internet connection.
We must do everything we can to ensure every resident in New Mexico is counted in the 2020 Census.
So, complete your Census today and count everyone in your household. Just remember to count everyone in your house regardless of age, immigration status or family relation.
Complete yours today at 2020census.gov or by calling 1-844-330-2020. The deadline is September 30th!
Then, call your friends and family to make sure they complete their census too. When we’re all counted, we all benefit.
